Optometrists are true all-rounders. They advise customers on choosing the right frame and the right lenses and at the same time are responsible for adjusting the corrective lenses. The glass lenses need to be polished, calibrated and professionally fitted into the frame. Moreover, optometrists assist people with putting in their first pair of contact lenses, check customers' visual acuity and if necessary, measure their corneal thickness. In addition, they sell care products, sunglasses, binoculars, etc.

Entry level to the profession is a DAP. The training schedule is dual training, i.e. students split their time between working in a company and attending a "lycée technique", and it usually takes three years to complete. Later, you have the opportunity to accomplish your master craftsman’s certificate.
