Professional ProfilesArt Director

The art director (AD) translates a client’s message into images. With the help of his or her creative team, the AD creates logos, develops mock-ups for publications, designs packaging, TV ads… The AD’s spotlight is on style and personality.
Under the leadership of a creative director and the help of a designer-copywriter, the AD oversees the creative team. Having analyzed a client’s needs, the AD envisions a concept and delegates work between graphic designers, illustrators, photographers and other members of his or her team.

The AD supervises the stages of the creative process, submits proposals to the client, makes any necessary amendments and ensures the technical follow-up. Arti directors work in communication agencies, ad agencies, creative studios, publishing houses and media companies.
The AD can specialize in a single field: motion design, editorial design, product design, web design, working with paper-based media (posters, newspaper, brochures…) or multimedia (websites, tablets, DVD…). The AD is not only very creative and dynamic, but also a good communicator who knows how to build a clients’ trust.
