Professional ProfilesSpeech therapists

Speech therapists (or orthophonists) advise, examine and treat children and adults with language, speech or voice impediments if so prescribed by a health professional. One of their main skills is to develop an individual linguistic rehabilitation programme and to implement it along with the patients.
Speech therapists are mainly employed in hospitals, rehabilitation centres and psychological surgeries, but often also have their own surgeries or work in speech rehabilitation nursery schools and special needs schools or homes.
Candidates should have no fear of contact and be able to deal with children, adults and patients with disabilities. In order to work as a speech therapist in Luxembourg, you must have completed at least a three-year university education and have a valid admission to the profession in the country of study.
